Afghan president Ashraf Ghani wins second term in preliminary vote count:
The results for the Afghan presidential elections that took place on September 28, were announced this Sunday by the independent electoral commission on a press conference. President Ashraf Ghani won his second term with 50.6% of the preliminary vote count. His main opponent, Abdullah Abdullah called the results “fraudulent”.
With 50.64 % of votes, President Ashraf Ghani is on course to win a 2nd term in office.
His main challenger, Abdullah Abdullah, with 39.5%, has said he will not accept the results until his concerns over 300k votes answered.
